Your book is built on the idea that life is a series of “MOMents.” Was there a specific
moment that changed everything for you?
The moment that everything changed for me was when my mom died suddenly and I
was alone with her before her funeral. Looking at her, I felt a rush of energy and clarity
that often the things we think matter, don’t, all that matters are the moments. Life is a series
of moments and we get to choose how to live them. Now being called “MOMents” in
honor of my mom. That understanding changed how I look at life and more importantly, how I live my life now.
What uncomfortable truth did you have to face before you could start living consciously?
The truth I had to accept is that we will all experience grief and loss. We will lose
parents and people we love. There is a quote in my book that says “Where you are is
a temporary place,” which is a reminder that life is in continual movement. From
daylight to darkness, from childhood to adulthood to old age. There are many
phases along life´s journey. I choose revel in each MOMent before I move into the
next.
What is the first step someone can take to start choosing their moments?
The first step is actually making the choice. There is a quote in the book that says “You
can go from ordinary to extraordinary with just a decision.” Reminding us that we can
choose how to show up, how to respond and what perspective to hold in each moment.
Every MOMent holds the possibility to be better than the one before.

Looking back, which moment would you choose differently today?
Nothing! What a gift it is to say I have no regrets. I truly believe that every experience has shaped me the way it was meant to, even the most difficult ones. I continue to live my life with intention and consciously choosing my MOMents.
If you could give one piece of encouragement to women reading your book, what would it be?
If I could give one piece of encouragement it would be to “Choose Your MOMents.”
There is a quote in the book that says “Leverage what you have learned,” and I would encourage readers to apply any one of the 80 quotes into their lives and see the results it creates. MOMents can become a way of living that brings a greater sense of happiness and fulfillment, where the only prerequisite is making a choice.
What belief about success or happiness did you have to unlearn?
There is a narrative that success and happiness are difficult to attain and something we have to constantly chase. There is a quote in the book that says “Express joy instead of pursuing happiness,” and another one that says, “Happiness is only waiting on your welcome.” These ideas reinforce that happiness isn´t something far away that we need to reach for. It lives right inside of us, waiting to be expressed. Success doesn´t have to come from struggle. It can come from alignment and how we choose to show up in each MOMent.

"Life is a series of MOMents and we get to choose how to live them."
